Learn how to turn scraps into delicious dishes with Irene and Mei Li, authors of Perfectly Good Food: A Totally Achievable Zero Waste Approach to Home Cooking. Irene and Mei Li’s book teaches us how to make the most of what we have, creating the sustainable practices in our own home kitchens. Food will be served at this event (of course!)
Irene Shiang Li is a Boston-based chef and restauranteur and a winner of a 2022 James Beard Leadership Award. The youngest person to win the award, Li is also a six time finalist in the Rising Star Chef category. In 2012, Li founded Mei Mei as a food truck with her brother Andrew and her sister Margaret (Mei). They opened Mei Mei Restaurant a year later, and Mei Mei now operates as a dumpling company, teaching virtual classes and selling packaged dumplings at farmers markets with their headquarters in Seaport, South Boston.
Margaret (Mei) Li is the founder of Food Waste Feast, a resource for flexible resources, smart strategies, and chef tips to help people fight food waste. She also teaches culinary classes, leads zero-waste seminars, and advocates for sustainable food systems with of goal of making delicious food more fun and accessible for everyone.
Irene and Mei are also the authors of the cookbook Double Awesome Chinese Food.
