Doing Business with Lextran

Lextran serves people and the community with mobility solutions. Lextran’s fleet includes compressed natural gas, battery-electric, hybrid-electric, and diesel vehicles. Lextran operates 25 fixed routes and a door-to-door paratransit service. Regular bus fare is $1.00, and there are a variety of reduced fares and pass programs available to individuals who qualify. All buses are equipped with bike racks and are wheelchair accessible.

Service to the Lexington community is central to Lextran’s mission and is approached with pride. The mobility solutions that Lextran provides facilitate daily commutes to work, school, and other activities, enhancing individual quality of life and benefiting the community at large. Serving riders is at the core of Lextran’s values.

As a quasi-government entity, Lextran executes nearly all contracts in-house with vendors and suppliers from our ever-growing supplier list. These contracts cover purchases for a variety of business needs, including (but definitely not limited to!) office supplies, uniforms, and on-call contracts for some services such as plumbing, electrical work, and heavy-duty towing.

Generally, Lextran's contracts operate on a 5-year cycle, so businesses can expect most contracts to last about 5 years depending on goods or services supplied through the contract. When Lextran prepares to publish a solicitation for a new contract cycle, companies from Lextran's bidders list who are associated with the goods or services needed are notified about the new opportunity. This notification usually comes from Lextran's e-procurement platform as an email, or as an email from the purchasing department.
