Dog-Friendly Dia de Muertos in Coconut Grove
About this Event
El Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an important holiday for remembering deceased loved ones in Mexico. Mexican families welcome the souls of their deceased loved ones back for a loving reunion, and our beloved pets arrive to visit us first on October 27th. They stay with us through November 2nd, the big day when they celebrate with skull parades, ofrendas, altares, and lots of food and music. By November 3rd, the altars are removed.
We'd love for you to join us Sunday, November 1st, as Gueyita Mexicana and Equipaws Pet Services host a final special night to honor and love the pets we've lost in this beautiful tradition. You're encouraged to be a part of the altar by adding bringing a photo of your pet and adding their name to it.
Be a part of the altar: Bring a photo of your beloved pets to place on the altar.
Bring your pups and meet us in front of The Historic Barnacle State Park in Coconut Grove; we'll be there from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Let's share our memories through this community altar over light bites and drinks.
We're grateful to Adriana of Gueyita Mexicana for sharing her culture’s traditions! She'll be bringing pan de muerto for us to share, and we'll be bringing Mexican-style hot chocolate. Woofgang Dadeland will be bringing treats for all the good boys and girls who join us!
We look forward to seeing you!
