Durham Opera Ensemble and Durham University Palatinate Orchestra present a showcase concert including overtures, arias, duets and choruses from your favourite operas in the magical Great Hall of Durham Castle!'Singers from the award-winning Durham Opera Ensemble accompanied by Durham University Palatinate Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Sutch, invite you to a night at the opera in Durham Castle’s spectacular Great Hall.
The music includes a dazzling array of arias, duets and quartets from world-renowned operas composed by the likes of Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet and others. The cast also come together to sing some of the great choruses from the operatic repertory. Opening each half of the concert, the Palatinate Orchestra play Rossini’s ‘Barber of Seville Overture’ and ‘March of the Toreadors’ from Carmen.
