NOVA Celebrates Executive Director Dodie Rife Tenth Year at the HelmNOVA Center for the Performing Arts Board of Directors President William Stearns and fellow Board members invite the public for an open house at NOVA on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, beginning at 10 AM lasting until 12 PM. NOVA will be celebrating Executive
Director, Dodie Rife’s tenth anniversary of employment and leadership as Executive Director.
Refreshments and beverages will be served to honor Rife and her many accomplishments. NOVA is located at 2317 Montana Avenue
Billings, Montana.
Rife, a Billings, Montana, native started her involvement in theater with Rimrock Opera Company as props manager during the opera Carmen in 2009. Rife’s creative skills soon became apparent to Rimrock Opera’s Artistic Director Douglas Nagel and
Board President Lucinda Butler. Rife was hired as stage manager for over twenty main stage operas performed at the Alberta Bair Theatre and NOVA Center.
When NOVA Center for the Performing Arts was founded in 2013, Dodie Rife joined the NOVA BOD, resigning from the BOD before applying for the open Managing Producer role at NOVA. Matt Haney and Craig Huisenga served as Managing Producers before
Rife’s hiring.
In December 2014, Rife directed her first opera, "Amahl and the Night Visitors." A long-awaited holiday season opera, “Amahl and the Night Visitors” featured local singers in lead roles, a large chorus and a troupe of dancers.
NOVA Center and Rimrock Opera welcomed the opportunity to produce smaller, lesser-known operas, operettas and One Act Operas at NOVA.
The opera “Hansel and Gretel” was recently staged at NOVA Center for the Performing Arts with local and regional professional opera singers and director Anthony Buck from Salt Lake
City, Utah. NOVA and Rimrock Opera will produce the world premiere “Le Roman de Silence.” written by Anthony Buck in May 2026.
Please join NOVA in honoring Rife’s contributions to the community.
