Kristal Parke is a talented filmmaker, speaker and podcaster whose work explores identity, belonging, and resilience. A transracial adoptee from a closed adoption, her personal journey fuels her storytelling with authenticity, compassion, and truth. She creates space for unheard voices, shaping narratives that educate, challenge, inspire and heal. Kristal will also join us via Zoom for a Q & A after.
Because She's Adopted is an award-winning documentary featuring Cree adoptee Kristal Parke. Winner of the Best Canadian Documentary at the Vancouver International Movie Awards, Best Editing at the Okanagan Screen Awards and winner of the Gil Cardinal Award at the DreamSpeakers International Film Festival, this film explores the emotional complexities of adoption, identity, belonging and coming home. It follows her personal journey as a second-generation, domestic, transracial adoptee searching for her roots and confronting the trauma of separation.
