Synapsis:
PR Vive Aqui: Roots in Asphalt is a short film depicting the immense impact of building autonomous, unfettered and sacred community spaces through the lens of El Batey Puerto Rican Cultural Center. With a vision “centered around culture, collective advancement, advocacy and empowerment of our youth and people”, El Batey exemplifies the true nature of community building in the face of adversity.
Through the living essence of tradition, Puerto Rican culture and communal joy is the profound story of a community leader, Beatriz Flores, with the intuition to coalesce her people around a shared vision for the future and a commitment to a better present.
