Join South Carolina Humanities Executive Director, Bingo Gunter, for a free screening of Our Story, Too, a compelling documentary that explores the often-overlooked contributions of Native Americans and women during the Revolutionary War. Through historical research, personal stories, and expert perspectives, the film broadens our understanding of the people who helped shape the nation's founding. It tells this story by highlighting individuals with South Carolina ties through expert commentary and dramatic reenactments.
Following the screening, participants are invited to stay for a facilitated community conversation. Together, we will reflect on the stories presented in the film, discuss whose voices have traditionally been included—or excluded—in our historical narratives, and explore how a more inclusive understanding of the past can deepen our connection to the present.
This event offers an opportunity to engage with history, share perspectives, and participate in meaningful dialogue about the diverse experiences that helped define America’s founding era.
