Doc Maclean The JoJo Man Blues Tour

Fresh from his European tour blues troubadour Doc MacLean (USA/Can) returns to Villa Pascal for his seventh visit with The JoJo Man's Secrets Stories Blues Tour telling songs and stories in an emotional remapping of the contemporary Delta Blues.

Forty-six years ago Doc MacLean played Charlie Patton songs in Son House's living room. Doc MacLean has performed and recorded with a who's who of first and second generation blues roots and gospel artists such as Sam Chatmon Peg Leg Sam and Blind John Davis. He has opened for Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee Muddy Waters Johnny Winter and BB King. With Grammy-winning producer Colin Linden and members of Canned Heat and Mavis Staples he recorded the groundbreaking and influential album Narrow House.

Now best known for his solo work as a songwriter and storyteller MacLean has recently been recording in Africa. Last year his Delta Blues/West African single "Africa Blues" was play listed by blues folk and world music stations on four continents. Doc's current release a Namibian recording "Son House Died at Detroit" is also starting to spin the airwaves. 

This is Doc MacLean's eighth African tour - he will travel over 20 thousand kilometers by land before heading north for an epic second leg of festivals and concerts in Ireland the UK and Europe. Highly recommended!

Tickets cost R250 per person. Doors open at 15h00 and the concert starts promptly at 16h00. Villa Pascal does not sell alcohol and guests are welcome to bring their own.
