About this Event
People feed animals every day, while caring for pets or livestock, for conservation, for fun, or by accident. But what happens when so many people feed so many animals for so long? What happens to the people, to the animals, and the environment? is a Wellcome Trust funded collaborative project involving the University of Reading, University of Exeter, and University of Roehampton, with National Museums Scotland, which has been investigating the causes and consequences of animal feeding from deep time to the present day.
This event celebrates the, currently on display at the MERL (Museum of English Rural Life) until January 11th 2025. The exhibition showcases outcomes of an artistic collaboration between the project team; artists Rebecca Jewell and Sandy Ross Sykes; and public visitors to the MERL, National Museums Scotland, Fishbourne Roman Palace and RZSS Edinburgh Zoo. It also includes objects from MERL, the Cole Museum and University of Reading Special Collections, demonstrating and exploring research stories about animal feeding.
The Animal Feeding Project is also proud to announce and celebrate the upcoming publication of our edited volume (UCL Press, 1st May 2025). Please join us to meet the research and artistic team, celebrate together with drinks and snacks, and learn more about our work!
