DMV Soldiers Pro Basketball Tryouts

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET at the Kilby Athletic Center, Severn Campus of Annapolis Area Christian School (109 Burns Crossing Rd, Severn, MD 21144).
Check-in begins at 12:00 PM – Tryouts start promptly at 1:00 PM.

Participants will be competing for a chance to earn an invite to training camp with the DMV Soldiers, a new professional basketball team preparing for its inaugural 2026 season in The Basketball League (TBL). Team coaches and scouts will be on-site to evaluate talent and identify players for potential roster opportunities.

This is an open tryout. While we encourage players with collegiate or professional experience, all serious and competitive athletes are welcome to showcase their abilities.

Selected players will be invited to training camp, where they will compete for a paid professional basketball contract. This is your opportunity to take your game to the next level and join a franchise committed to winning on and off the court.

The DMV Soldiers are a new professional basketball team based in Southern Maryland, joining The Basketball League (TBL) for the 2026 season. The regular season features 24 games (12 home, 12 away) from March to May, with playoffs held in June. Training camp will begin in February.

Our mission is to provide high-level, affordable entertainment while building a community-first franchise that Southern Maryland can proudly call its own. We aim to win on the court and impact lives off it through engagement, professionalism, and opportunity.

The Basketball League is a fast-growing, U.S.-based professional league now entering its eighth season. As of 2025, TBL features 36 teams across North America and is expanding through its partnership with the Basketball Super League (Canada).

TBL offers a proven platform for former college standouts, overseas professionals, and G-League-level players to showcase and advance their careers. The level of play is highly competitive, and several alumni have gone on to play at the highest levels, including the NBA.

Coach Byron Mouton brings championship pedigree and professional-level leadership to the DMV Soldiers for their inaugural season. A 2002 NCAA National Champion and Final Four starter with the Maryland Terrapins, Mouton went on to play in the NBA D-League and internationally in France, Germany, and China, and was invited to training camp with the Boston Celtics.

Following his pro career, Mouton became a respected figure in player development, leading Lanham Christian School to multiple state championships and mentoring future pros through his 6th Man Sports AAU program.

Coach Mouton will oversee player evaluations at the tryout as he builds a competitive and disciplined training camp roster for the DMV Soldiers' 2026 season.
