Prepare for medical emergencies in remote and challenging environments. This intensive Hybrid Wilderness First Responder Course from Desert Mountain Medicine equips you with the essential skills and knowledge to assess, treat, and evacuate patients in the backcountry. Learn patient assessment, trauma management, environmental emergencies, and common medical problems, all while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This is a Hybrid Wilderness First Responder course with 30 hours of self-paced, online work followed by 50 hours or 5 days of in person learning. The online section will be available on Canvas® approximately one month before the classroom section begins and consists of reading, case studies, videos, animations, and quizzes. The online material must be completed by the start date of the classroom section. Upon completion, students will receive a widely recognized Wilderness First Responder certification that is valid for three years. This course also includes basic life support (CPR infant/child/adult & AED) and Wilderness Anaphylaxis Training (WAT).
