Q: Can you swing AC/DC?
A: “Highway to Hell” YES!
Welcome to Dean Keller’s Soul Jazz Joint, where familiar songs get a soulful, groove-driven jazz makeover—and the audience gets to play along.
It’s part concert, part Name That Tune – Soul Jazz Style!
As the band reimagines well-known songs as instrumental soul jazz, you’ll find yourself leaning over to your neighbor saying, “Wait… I know this one… what is it? Oh yeah!” The fun is in recognizing the melody hiding inside the groove.
Recent additions to the set list include:
-Justin Bieber transformed into bebop
-Taylor Swift in the style of Cannonball Adderley’s classic “Work Song”
-The Doors reimagined à la Shirley Bassey—the legendary voice behind the Goldfinger theme
-A New Orleans street-beat spin on the Super Mario Bros. theme
-A tribute to Rochester drum legend Steve Gadd with Rickie Lee Jones’s “Chuck E’s in Love”
From songs written in the 1870s all the way to the 2020s, Dean Keller’s Soul Jazz Joint connects with listeners of all ages through groove, improvisation, and surprise.
The result?
A show full of great playing, familiar melodies, and the irresistible thrill of figuring out the tune before your friends do.
Come ready to listen, laugh, and play along with Name That Tune — Soul Jazz Style!
