Weekly djembe classes in my home studio in Salem.
Drums provided if you don't have one.
No registrations required, come when you can and pay as you go.
$10 Class Fee
If you have never played a Djembe before or are very new to it, please come at 10:30am so we can go over the basic strokes and get a good foundation on your technique and learn how to get the best get sound out of your drum.
Rhythm Class will start at 11:00am where we'll learn some fun polyrhythms and ensemble pieces.
I teach mostly traditional West African Rhythms and songs but also some Latin, Carribean and Middle Eastern as well. What I like about teaching these rhythms to multi-level classes is that there is always a pattern that you can play. It can be as simple or complex as required to make sure everyone learns and contributes to the collective sound.
