This is an event for ANYONE to learn different mediums from professional artists in a welcoming, fun setting, completely for FREE!
All skill levels welcome!
Taking place at Lewis Park at the small stage (between main building and pool)
Come discover different mediums, discuss what it’s like to be a working artist, and meet some incredible people in our community!
Art Teachers:

-The event host, Lauren Correia, will be teaching linocut carving and printing, with clothing available for free to print on and customize with handmade lino stamps!

Lauren Correia makes linocut prints of BC flora and fauna in a unique graphic style. Her art features prints of familiar animals seen through a wavy, illustrative lens. On a mission to make herself known in the local artist community, she hopes to produce many more events to connect with the public through art.

-Nate Schmold will be teaching needle felting, guiding you to create personality-fillled, pocket-sized, creatures and critters!
Nate Schmold is a dedicated member of the arts scene in the community. Creator of Audible Art events, and PetMutant felted creatures, he’s also a game designer, musician, sound designer, illustrator, and artist. Absurd, expressive, bright, and bubbly, his art and passion are unmistakable, and unmatched.

-Laura Varkonja will be teaching a condensed version of a stained glass workshop! Learn how the process works, and arrange a custom piece!
Laura has always been an artist in one form or another, since she can remember. Exploring different mediums, now dedicated to stained glass & woodwork with her brand Light & Lumber, she’s always been driven by the call to share her art and knowledge with the humans around her.

-Margaret McKenzie will be teaching gelli-plate printing, a cool way to make monotype prints with amazing textural patterns!
Margaret McKenzie, is a mixed media artist, she facilitates creative expression in her Art Play for Wellness classes, runs neighbourhood art experiences in Comox and co-leads therapeutic art groups for Grief & Loss, caregivers, and seniors. When not running something heARTful you will find her combing the beach for materials to use in her eclectic garden sculptures.

Connie Crouch will be teaching paper making using scrap paper and dried flowers!
Connie is a multi-disciplinary artist from the UK who loves the sense of adventure, the beauty, and community connections she’s found on the island. She goes where her creativity takes her, and figures out ways of making that fill her soul.
