Divine Error Kat. Komendant
Inspired by medieval art, Kateryna Komendant constructs a visual language where sanctity and absurdity stand as equals. Through the use of gold, fur, cracks, and heroic poses, she creates a world where childhood memories and fantastical visions transform into contemporary relics.
Divine Error is a spatial installation in which oil paintings bear witness to stories of wickedness drawn from a shared, collective memory. These are played out by characters such as sinister snakes and clumsy tigers, in scenes that have been distorted — warped by a tension pulling from beneath, turning the familiar to uncanny.
Kat. Komendant (b. 1998, Ukraine) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, and mural art. With a background in painting restoration, she merges classical techniques with surreal, playful imagery.
This exhibition will be REDAN’s final show.
