About this Event
"Research that works for us, starts with us."
Join the Monmouth County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for our 2026 Regional Day of Service. This year, we are hosting a critical community conversation: Diversity in Clinical Trials: Why Representation Matters.
Clinical trials are the backbone of modern medicine, yet the African American community remains significantly underrepresented. This lack of data can lead to healthcare treatments that aren't optimized for our specific needs. We are coming together to change that narrative through a Clinical Trial Revolution.
Why You Should Attend:
This isn't just a lecture; it’s an interactive session designed to Engage, Educate, and Empower the residents of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
- Get Honest Answers: We’re stripping away the jargon to discuss the history, the hurdles, and the hope of medical research. 60 minutes of brief presentations from speakers who will explain what clinical trials are, why they matter, and how people can participate safely.
- Meet the Experts: Connect directly with clinical trial professionals and healthcare advocates. A 20-minute panel discussion will give attendees the opportunity to hear answers to common questions about clinical trials.
- Take Action: Learn how your participation can bridge the health equity gap for future generations. Visit information tables hosted by local clinical trial teams to learn about clinical trials currently enrolling in our area and speak directly with research staff.
