Diva Barros was born in Mindelo, the daughter of a musician, she took on Cape Verdean heritage with conviction, and with her songs, as she says, she paints the traces of her soul and her music becomes the canvas which is her gift to the world. Her repertoire is dominated by Cape Verdean music, where Morna, Coladeira, and other Cape Verdean rhythms are played.
Having conquered the public with his strong voice, she's been winning over audiences since the '90s and has performed great shows and participated in Festivals all over the world (several countries in Europe, USA, Brazil, China, Angola, etc.) and has collaborated with big names in international music, such as Chico César, Alcione (Brazil), Tito Paris, Boi G. Mendes, Vlu (Cape Verde).
In 2012, she was selected, among many singers, the best voice to be at the Festival “Le Kollatier” and at New Orleans’Festival in in 2013.
Her last two solo albums, “Palco d'Vida” and “Um bem dum Cavaquim”, in which some of compositions are hers, have gathered several awards, like “Best Voice”, and in 2022 she won Best Traditional Music - Coladeira, by the Cape Verde Authors Society (SCM) and Best World Music Performance by the International Portuguese Music Awards, with a song of his own authorship.
