ABOUT J'KWAN:
J’Kwan Fulmore was originally born in New York, but moved to Fayetteville as a child with his mother for a better life. He graduated from Southview High School in 2015 and went on to study at at Le Cordon Bleu, College of Culinary Arts to get his degree. During his time traveling across the country as a private chef for NFL professional athletes, J’Kwan witnessed firsthand the stark disparities between food waste, food insecurity in low-income communities, and the abundance of healthy food options in more affluent areas.
In 2024, J’Kwan returned to Fayetteville to teach at FTCC and founded the nonprofit Er’Body Eatz, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about food insecurity in lower-income neighborhoods. Through initiatives like community gardens, cooking classes, and local events, Er’Body Eatz works to empower residents and build stronger, healthier communities. The organization established its first community garden at Cliffdale Community Church, thanks to the support of Senior Pastor Dale Paschall, who offered the church’s grounds as a home base for the project.
J’Kwan is now running for Fayetteville City Council, District 7, to bring real resources to real people and help build a city that prioritizes community over control. J'Kwan wants to create a City where young people can envision a future here in Fayetteville. He will fight for fight for trauma & data-informed youth violence prevention programs that offer mentorship, mental and behavioral health response teams, and initiates under the Office of Community Safety that address the root causes of crime and poverty. To retain our young adults, we need to create a city that offers a living wage, affordable housing, public transportation, parks, arts & culture, and abundant third spaces.
“This campaign is about people over politics. I believe there’s absolutely a version of Fayetteville where community resources don’t have to beg for funding—because they’re seen as essential, not optional. Where re-entry means opportunity instead of a dead end. Where we focus on healing our neighborhoods, interrupting cycles of violence, and investing in sustainable, empowering programs for our youth. This won’t be your typical campaign, because I’m not your typical candidate. What I plan to do is to give grassroots organizations and community leaders a platform to bring about the positive changes we’ve been talking about seeing in our community for years. Because everybody deserves a seat at the table.”
