Created and performed by Luke Casserly, Distillation is a multi-sensory performance that transports audiences to the Irish bog landscape through scent. The Dock will host two performances of Distillation, at 5pm and 8pm, on Wednesday 29 July.
The production premiered as part of Dublin Theatre Festival in 2023, followed by sold-out performances across Ireland, the USA, and Canada, which earned widespread critical acclaim.
Casserly collaborated with renowned perfumer Joan Woods (Waters + Wild Organic Perfumery) to create a unique essence of the Midlands bog — the place where he grew up — as the starting point for an olfactory encounter exploring our relationship to place.
Created in direct response to the cessation of Ireland’s peat harvesting industry, Distillation is dedicated to the future of our broken landscapes — in the hope that by listening to them, we might be able to better understand them.
The performance lasts approximately 50 minutes and is suitable for ages 12+. Tickets are on sale for €15 via https://www.thedock.ie/whats-on/distillation or through the Box Office at 071 965 0828.
Distillation is a co-production by Abbey Theatre and Solas Nua Inc. , commissioned by Solas Nua.
