About this Event
Collage, Print, Paint & Montage!
Join us for a fun and hands-on art education training session inspired by writer and artist William Burroughs. We’ll explore how accidents, dreams, and everyday moments can spark creativity and open up exciting new ways of learning in the classroom.
We’ll play with the cut-up technique to transform words and language - helping children reconnect with literacy and imagination through art.
Working with collage, painting, montage, and cut-up exercises, we will:
Discover how embracing accidents can spark creativity and surprising new ideas, and learn why exploring multiple interpretations can be more inspiring than relying on a single “generic” answer.
See how assemblage techniques and ideas relate to “front yard art,” and can become symbols for social justice as seen in the history of the Watts Towers, and explore practical ways to engage students in creating art from everyday materials..
Working collaboratively to find new ways to:
Encourage open-ended fun and exploration among your students. Help students feel more empowered and excited to express themselves. Use cut-up, collage, and montage in your lessons to reshape language and storytelling.
This session is perfect for teachers, art educators, and facilitators who want to bring more creativity and student-led activities into their work.
Join us working with artist and educator Esther Adesigbin at October Gallery to see how these experimental methods can help you and your students embrace the unknown, play with language, and find magic in ordinary things.
Please note that the event will take place upstairs in the theatre, which unfortunately is not an accessible space. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
