Discussion with Portia Powell on Funding and Entrepreneurship

Bamboo is thrilled to host Portia Powell at our Royal Oak location to share her experience and advice for founders nagivating funding and the entrepreneurship journey in Michigan.

About Portia Powell

Portia Powell was announced earlier this fall as the next Chief Executive Officer atOne Detroit Credit Union. Powell, a seasoned leader with over two decades of experience in the financial services industry, makes history as the first woman and African American that will lead the credit union for its 90-year history.

Portia Powell brings more than 20 years of banking experience to this new role as EVP

where she will oversee retail banking, call center and digital banking, marketing, strategy,

and innovation teams. She also launched and led the popular neighborhood restaurant and bar Good Vibes Lounge, understanding the small business and entrepreneur journey.

Powell previously served at Chemical Bank as manager of Municipal Banking Operations.

As a Certified Public Funds investment manager, she serviced municipalities all over the

country, including the City of Detroit. Most recently she served as a program manager for

Huntington Bank's Lift Local Program and helped execute on their $4 billion commitment to underserved communities.
