We are excited to announce that NPSK will be hosting the next discussion-based book club in person on Wednesday, October 30th, from 2 to 4 PM at CNX Resources.During this session, we will discuss "Radical Candor: Be a Kick-Ass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity" by Kim Scott, a former Apple and Google executive.
Some leaders may wonder, “Why is it so hard to give constructive feedback?” In this book, Kim Scott writes about finding the balance between authenticity and directness. Radical Candor is about learning how to build relationships with those at work and provide both positive and constructive feedback for growth and development.
It’s about caring personally while challenging directly - it’s kind, clear, specific, and sincere guidance. The antidote to toxic company cultures seems simple, but it’s not always easy to practice.
We will tackle this during our in-person book club discussion and will cover the book's core concepts, our own perceptions and experiences with bad feedback, and how telling the truth can strengthen our connections with people.
Here are a few reasons why you should join us:
- No need to read the book beforehand – it’s a discussion-based club.
- NPSK provides a safe space for sharing and learning.
- Connect with like-minded nonprofit community leaders.
Sign up for our next in-person Discussion-Based Book Club by Friday, October 4th, for a chance to win a FREE copy of the book.
