Ever gotten stuck in the pluff mud of the salt marsh? You’re not alone! Join S.C. Sea Grant Consortium educators, E.V. Bell and Morgan Treon, as they highlight the importance of the salt marsh ecosystem to our coastal communities through an interactive presentation that includes hands-on activities and live specimens. Of particular focus will be the biology and ecology of smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) and its critical role in the health and sustainability of the salt marsh ecosystem. Attendees will also learn about the From Seeds to Shoreline ® project, which is the state’s first and only youth-focused restoration program. Publications and handouts will be provided.
