"Discovering the Long Path," a photography exhibit of New York's Long Path long distance hiking trail by Steve Aaron and Ken Posner, will be on display in the Steinberg Room for the months of October and November. Steve Aaron and Ken Posner will join us in the Steinberg Room for a talk on their exhibit on Thursday October 10th at 5:30PM. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibit was conceived in 2016 by Ken Posner to bring awareness to the Long Path - New York's greatest long distance hiking trail. Steve Aaron photographed various locations along the Long path in 2016 /17. At the same time, Ken and Steve launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance the printing and framing of the exhibit's images. The Kickstarter campaign financed the exhibit, and it also helped support the purchase of trail maintenance equipment by the NY /NJ Trail Conference.
The exhibit opened in September 2017 at the NJ / NJ Trail Conference HQ. Since then, the exhibit has been displayed in galleries throughout the Hudson Valley.
Ken Posner is a Long Path enthusiast, having thru-run the trail in 2013 and written a book about the experience (Running the Long Path: A Journey of Discovery in New York's Hudson Valley). He is board chair of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and Run Wild, Inc, race director for the SRT Run, and a runner, hiker, and peak-bagger. Connect with Ken at www.barefootken.com
Steve Aaron is an award-winning landscape photographer specializing in images of the Catskills, Shawangunks and surrounding areas. Steve's work demonstrates a keen photographic eye and a perspective based on a deep understanding of the landforms of the region, creating images with a unique point of view.
He provides photography to many non-profit organizations dedicated to land preservation and outdoor recreation including the Mohonk Preserve, the NY-NJ Trail Conference, the Open Space Institute & the Catskill Center.
