Discover Wild Luton (Friday activities)

Join The Wildlife Trust BCN and other local organisations for a week filled with nature-inspired activities here at Hat Works in Luton Town Centre
Below are the activities taking place on Friday (10th April):

10:30-12:00| Fossils Under Our Feet

Discover signs of the past – how Bedfordshire looked millions of years ago, what creatures lived here, and much more. We’ll explore what fossils are and create our very own fossils to take home!

This session is suitable for children aged 5–12, supervised by parents.

Price: £2.50 + booking fee per child (parents enter for free)
When registering, you will be asked to provide the age of your child.

14:00-15:30| Mini Foraging Walk & Wild Foods Tasting Session

Join Konni & Ieva for a mini foraging walk around St Mary's Churchyard followed by a tasting session back at the Hat Works. Discover urban foraging, see what nature offers at this time of year during a walk around, and try making simple wild foods.

Suitable for adults and older children.

Discover Wild Luton is a programme of activities created by the Luton Health and Nature Partnership (Health and Nature Partnership), a collaboration of organisations that deliver outdoor, nature-based events and activities in the green spaces of Luton. This Easter programme is designed to give local residents a ‘taste’ of what the partnership delivers on a weekly basis. Thanks to National Heritage Lottery Funding we are able to deliver some activities for free and others at a very affordable rate. Please take a look through the whole programme to see what might be of interest and suitable for you as an adult or for a more child friendly session.
Also at Hat Works there is a longer running exhibition in the reception area called Chalk Wanderings. This is curated by Abi Spendlove and compliments the different sessions we will be running so please do allow time to explore that exhibition whilst there.

We will meet at the reception area of Hat Works located on 47 Guildford Street (not to be confused with Hat Factory across the road). Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the activity to sign in for the activity and meet the activity leader.
