Join Scottish Canals Heritage Manager, Chris O’Connell, for a gentle, engaging walk uncovering the rich history of Glasgow's Canal, the Forth & Clyde, and the area’s remarkable industrial past.

This guided stroll offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Explore the stories behind the canal, harbour, shipbuilding, and railways
  • Learn how Glasgow played a key role in Scotland’s industrial development
  • Share your own memories and experiences of the canal and Glasgow

Whether you’re a local resident, a history enthusiast, or simply curious about the area, this walk promises an enjoyable and informative look at the landscapes and landmarks that define Glasgow.

The walk takes place at 11am and 2pm.

The route is along our towpaths which are level and mostly accessible by wheelchair and people with limited mobility.

The walk will last around one hour, including time for stops at points of interest along the route.

On-street car parking is available locally and Applecross is served by public transport links.

This event is part of our Millennium Link project 25th anniversary celebrations.
