Discover Tennessee State Forests: Our Other Public Lands
About this Event
While many visit our State Parks and Natural Areas, many are not familiar with our 16 State Forests. From the nearby Cumberland Plateau districts of Prentice Cooper and Franklin to Chuck Swan in the Ridge and Valley, and Natchez Trace west of Nashville, our State Forests deserve more attention. Many of these districts face the effects of heavy logging, including forest composition shift and loss of biodiversity. Tennessee Heartwood director Davis Mounger will give us a tour of these forests and how we can be advocates for them. We will also touch on our two federal lands districts, the Cherokee National Forest and the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
