Join Ottawa County Parks naturalists at Rosy Mound on Thursday, September 11th, at 6:00 PM on a hike at Rosy Mound Natural Area to learn more about west Michigan's dune system.
This hike through the freshwater dune system at the Rosy Mound Natural Area will allow attendees to see and explore what makes our Great Lakes dunes so unique. How does a forest grow on sand? Discover how ancient processes, combined with natural energy flow, create a unique environment in Michigan that is found nowhere else on earth. Topics will include the flora and fauna of our dunes as well as the geology of the dunes.
Note: Rosy Mound's trail system contains many steps and stairs, and physical exertion is necessary. Registration and a Physical Activity Waiver are required. Registration for this event will open on Monday, August 25, at 10:00 AM.
