Join us as we experience the history and natural beauty of Marshy Point Nature Center. Let’s admire the natural beauty of the property as we learn about the continued work tracing Marshy Point’s history on this leisurely walk. Through resources such as written references, unearthed archaeology, and oral testimony, knowledge about this area has expanded dramatically since it became a park. Learn about some of the odds and ends we may see along trails and places we can stand that hold experiences that have been forgotten. We will look over various stories as seen in clippings from newspapers to piece together personal stories of those who lived or worked at Marshy Point, while enjoying the beauty of the forest and the wetland.The walk starts at the nature center, then continues to the cemetery, and over to the bridge for a scenic view of Dundee Creek. Walking to the other side of the park, we’ll discover more trails and the community garden. We will end back at the nature center to look at the displays and discuss the archaeological finds recovered on the site. The trails may have slight slopes with partial paving. Benches are available as resting points.
