“There are three kinds of people in the world: those who can count… and those who cannot count.”
-Anonymous
😉 😊
Jokes aside, could there be FOUR kinds of people in the world? And if so, could identifying these types of people help you communicate with them better and improve your life?
That’s the belief of the upcoming book club event at Courtyard by Marriott near Arts-Loi.
For millennia there have been figures we can relate to. Like the mentor. The visionary. The peacemaker. The tactician. The protector. These are archetypes.
Likewise, certain behavior patterns can be observed based on people's kinds of personality.
This is called the DISC framework, a framework that will serve as the basis for two practical, entertaining workshops.
The workshops will be oriented around Thomas Erikson’s “Surrounded By Idiots” and Monica Dimitriu’s “Communication and Coaching Strategies to Deal with Difficult People”.
Have you ever felt like you were surrounded by idiots? Or was that just your impression? Thomas Erikson’s book shows an example of
exaggeration used for humour. But this is just one way to use humour. In the workshop by Jack Gilbey learn how to employ different humour techniques, with examples from Erikson’s book; how to create twists, reversal jokes, and understand how exaggeration is used for humour. Humour is a tool to make info memorable, to inspire, to persuade, and so much more.
We'll take a break in the middle of the event- so you can enjoy the AIR CONDITIONING in the lobby!- and then in Monica Dimitriu's workshop, spot trends to accelerate AND fine-tune how to interact more productively with others, taking advantage of your strengths based on your personality; learn to how to use archetypes you're already familiar with to motivate, sell, pitch, not to get into conflict and improve communicate in writing and speaking...
Enjoyed the event? No? Yes? We’ll do a pass-the-hat at the end.
(And we’ll show you how to go home with copies of the books, too!)
