Join us for Discover Community Cafe Presents: Get-Hype Open-Mic 1ST SHOW OF 2026, hosted by Oakland raised author and poet, J.R. Rice. Come through to this FREE EVENT at 3207 Louise Street, Oakland, CA 94608 on Friday January 9th, 2025 from 6:00-9pm for an open mic like no other.

Whether you're a poet, musician, comedian, or storyteller, here is your opportunity to share your work to the world.

We will feature singer and songwriter, Bianca Brown (@bbindisthang) performing a full musical set. We will also have a Writer's Workshop with @theberkeleyslam. Don’t miss out on the most hype open mic around!

Bianca Brown (@bbindisthang) is a singer, songwriter, arranger, composer, producer, self taught pianist, beat boxer, and voice impressionist. In 2022, she released her self-produced her first project, a 5 track EP titled "Is Anybody Home?" BB has performed at various venues around the Bay Area, including Oakland City Hall, The Fox Theater, and at the top of Salesforce Tower. Open Mic Guidelines:

Each performer is allowed to perform 1 piece (poem, song, short comedy set, etc) but 5 mins max.

We will have a bluetooth speaker for backing tracks but be patient with the tech.

Keep your content somewhat appropriate for all ages.
