In the warehouses and rooftop apartments of New York, the party kept going through the sunrise if you knew someone. Guided by DJs like David Mancuso, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, and David Morales "Loft" parties were more intimate than the commercial fare of venues like Studio 54. Over time this resulted in a subgenre of Djs playing rare, tasty picks that might not work under brighter lights.Sometimes grimy, sometimes rare/deep cuts, sometimes soulful hypnotic goodness, Loft House players are often considered "Dj's Djs".
