Direct Work with Children and Young People

Learning Outcomes:

• The purpose and importance of direct work with children in gaining an understanding of the child’s views, wishes and feelings - as well as working with children in relation to specific needs.
• Planning of direct work – having a focus / purpose of the session, identifying the appropriate tools, preparing the logistics of the session, preparing the child or young person.
• Skills required working directly with children and young people.
• Consider a range of methods in enabling children to communicate in many ways and how you might engage with them.
• Explore direct work methods / tools and have an opportunity to consider how and when they can be used.
