Join us for an unforgettable evening at our first dinner theater of 2026! Experience Tim Hodge's compelling portrayal of Captain Robert Smalls and his escape in the early morning hours, impersonating the Captain of the CSS Planter, a Confederate military cargo transport. Listen to his daring journey as Smalls, along with his wife, children, and others, navigated Charleston Harbor to secure their freedom.
Tim Hodge’s passion for Civil War history began with a childhood trip to Gettysburg and was reignited years later when he discovered Major Martin Robinson Delany, the first African American field officer commissioned by President Lincoln. Inspired by Delany’s extraordinary life, Hodge also studied and began portraying other notable Black Civil War figures such as Robert Smalls and Sgt. William Harvey Carney. He has presented these portrayals at museums, roundtables, schools, and parades across the country and, as a member of The Confederation of Union Generals, now enjoys retirement while educating the public about the often-overlooked contributions of African Americans in the Civil War.
