Dinner and the Declaration
About this Event
Join select visitors and the staff of the Margaret Chase Smith Library for a private viewing of one of America's most treasured historical documents, the Declaration of Independence, before gathering for a classic Maine lobster and steak dinner.
We begin at 4:00 PM with an opportunity to see the Maine Historical Society’s original copy of the Dunlap Broadside, printed on July 2, 1776 for distribution to the colonies, then gather for a meal that reflected the Senator's pride in her home state and its hospitality.
Your ticket includes:
- Viewing of the Declaration of Independence
- Catered lobster and steak dinner, with a cash bar available.
- Remarks from special guests
- An evening of history, civic engagement, and community.
Proceeds from this fundraising event support the Margaret Chase Smith Library's mission to preserve the legacy of the Senator through educational programs, including the Field Trip Fund, which helps Maine students visit the Library, as well as the care and preservation of the Library's historic grounds.
Tickets: $75 per person + fees
