At the core, Special Olympics is a sports organization that uses the power of sport as a catalyst for social change for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Marion County South Special Olympics provides the opportunity for athletes to train and compete in sports. This is agreat way for our athletes to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and have social interactions with other athletes and the Special Olympics community. Our parents develop friendships and bonds with other parents sharing the challenges faced in raising a person with special needs.
We do not charge admission to our competitions, nor do we charge the athletes to play. Marion County South Special Olympics is a nonprofit organization funded through private donations and fundraising projects. Our organization relies solely on volunteers and the generosity of others. We value the ability to continue serving our athletes.
