tender: red unfolds as an intimate excavation of memory, where personal and family archives become a raw visual language. Working between photography, darkroom processes, and drawing, Dinaya Waeyaert constructs images that operate as fragments—torn, reassembled, and reactivated.
This second chapter introduces red as both material and psychological presence. Emerging directly in the color darkroom, red becomes a site of tension: between what is imposed and what is desired, between violence and tenderness.
At the core of the work lies absence. The early loss of her father reverberates through the images, shaping a visual dialogue between mother, daughter, and sister. Memory is no longer fixed—it is manipulated, reconstructed, and embodied.
tender: red navigates the fragile territory of intimacy, female identity, and the invisible distances that structure relationships. What remains is not resolution, but a space where tenderness persists despite fracture.
