About this Event
This is a FREE workshop with limited places available to keep the session practical and interactive. Our workshops are designed to be friendly, informal and practical, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from each other.
Community groups often see powerful moments every day - the difference your work makes to people’s lives, the connections you create and the changes happening in your community. But capturing and sharing those moments can be difficult when you’re busy delivering activities.
This practical workshop will show you how to use simple digital tools to capture and share the stories behind your work. We’ll explore how storytelling can help funders, supporters and your wider community better understand the impact you create.
You’ll learn practical ways to collect stories, photos and short interviews that bring your work to life while keeping things ethical, safe and respectful.
In this FREE workshop you will learn:
- The basics of storytelling for community groups and charities
- A simple structure for writing case studies and impact stories
- How to safely collect stories and manage consent
- How to capture stories using phones, voice recordings, photos and video
- Simple tools to edit and present your content clearly
This workshop is ideal for:
Community organisations who want to better show the human impact of their work to funders, partners and their local community.
What to bring:
- A phone
- A laptop
Note: There are four Social Media and Marketing Workshops focused on specific areas. This is the fourth and final of the four. You can attend individual workshops that interest you or all four. Please note you will have to book the workshops individually by visiting our Eventbrite page.
Eligibility Notice:Our events and training are intended for citizens, community groups, and organisations based in or working with citizens in the Edgbaston constituency (Bartley Green, Harborne, Edgbaston, North Edgbaston and Quinton wards). Attendees from elsewhere in Birmingham may be considered on an individual basis, subject to the availability of spaces. Bookings from those outside Birmingham will not be considered unless the individual or organisation is directly delivering activities or services in Edgbaston or can clearly demonstrate benefits to Edgbaston residents.
