Scams and phishing can happen to anyone - even careful, experienced people. They don’t rely on being “tech-savvy” - they rely on timing, pressure, and trust.
Phishing is when someone tries to trick you into giving personal information or access by pretending to be a trusted organisation, such as a bank, delivery service, or government agency. These messages often look real and may create urgency, such as asking you to “verify your account” or warning that something will be “locked” or “suspended.”
That’s why it’s important to pause, check, and verify before clicking links or sharing information.
The session will be presented by guest speaker Rob Nairn, a technology professional with more than 20 years of experience in information technology, web development, and technology education. Drawing on decades of industry experience, Rob will discuss common online risks, current digital safety challenges, and practical approaches to staying secure in an increasingly connected world.
