About this Event
In a public health climate where two out of three adults in the US are overweight or obese, the need for lifestyle change is greater than it has ever been. So many are suffering from a fiber-poor diet which is contributing to several chronic health conditions. Fiber plays a key role for digestion, weight loss, and cancer prevention, and can even reverse disease. Don't be confused by packaged goods that add fiber; the best source is whole foods.
Researchers identified 20 studies which analyzed fiber intake and risk of colorectal polyps, precursors to colorectal cancer. Those who consumed the most fiber had a 28 percent lower likelihood of developing colon polyps, compared with those who consumed the least fiber.
This is a combined program, offering all of the nutrition education from 2 PCRM Food for Life classes - Digestive Health and Favoring Fiber - along with 5 delicious recipes to sample in 3 hours. This class offers a unique opportunity to:
- Acquire knowledge about the link between diet and diseases of the gut
- Experience the benefits of plant-based nutrition
- Learn the practical cooking skills needed to help you on your journey to better health
In this class, attendees learn all of this while enjoying cooking demonstrations, tasting delicious, healthful dishes and taking home useful class materials and recipes, all in a supportive group setting. This class is limited to 6 participants and pre-registration is required.
