„Time Stands Still“ is a daring cult movie, an unquestionable masterpiece. It is a high-energy coming-of-age film about the 1960s, a time when teenagers went wild for Elvis Presley, traded pornographic pictures, and got high on Coca-Cola. Yet, it is so much more than that: it is a bold confrontation with the failure of the 1956 revolution, the guilt of those who stayed behind, and their perpetual, futile longing to escape. The film radiates a bittersweet atmosphere of aimless rebellion and continuous failure. Its legendary character, Pierre, completely turns the school upside down in the style of charismatic American anti-heroes.
In Hungarian with English subtitles.
Free admission.
The screening is part of FRAMES OF FREEDOM, a commemorative project by the CHB marking the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Further information and programmes: https://culture.hu/de/berlin/veranstaltungen/1956-2026
