Always on the lookout for creative forms of expression, writing music turned out to be an essential partof Liz’ life. After studying landscape architecture and being involved in several music projects, Vienna based songwriter, guitarist, and singer Maria Elisabeth Thornton started her solo project Liz Metta in 2020.
Giving an early glimpse of her sound by performing live loops at various festival appearances in 2022, including sets at Popfest, Poolbar festival, and Waves Vienna, she self-released herawaited EP Fragile & Strongin 2022. The singles Vision und Fragile & Strong got international recognition with great reviews.
Liz Metta has been selected for The New Austrian Sound of Music program (NASOM 2023/24) as artist in the Pop genre. On October 27th 2023 Introspection, Liz’debut album was released on Siluh Records, with the singles Vienna and Batik rotating on FM4, radio Wien, Ö1, 88.6, Byte.FM.The release was accompanied by the spectacular album releaseshow at the Planetarium Vienna.
