Tenor Elias Wilson and Pianist Stacey Yang present Schumann’s stunning lieder cycle, ‘Dichterliebe’ (A Poet’s Love) as part of St James’ King Street’s Lunchtime Concert program on Wednesday the 16th of October at 1:15pm. The rich German poetry of Heinrich Heine’s ‘Lyrisches Intermezzo’ explores the the depths of love and loss, and is set to music by 19th century composer Robert Schumann, one of the great masters of early romantic repertoire.
The song cycle, performed in its entirety, will be accompanied by a performance of an earlier work of German song, ‘Adelaide’ by Ludwig van Beethoven, which explored similarly romantic ideas fifty years before ‘Dichterliebe’s premiere.
This recital is an opportunity for St James’ parishioners to hear Choir of St James’ tenor Elias Wilson in full flight as a soloist, and for all audiences to hear him in collaboration with fellow Melba Opera Trust alum Stacey Yang.
Tickets are $10 (online or at the door) and are available using this link: https://events.humanitix.com/lunchtime-concert-dichterliebe
