Diaspora in Motion: Afro-Latin Dance Workshop Series invites you to a journey through the history, rhythms, and movements of Afro-Latin dance. This six-week series celebrates the rich cultural legacy of the African diaspora, tracing its influence on Latin dance forms like salsa, bachata, rumba, and more.
Through engaging, interactive sessions, you’ll:
- Learn the Origins: Uncover the cultural and historical roots of Afro-Latin dances, connecting to their deeper meanings.
- Explore Musicality: Understand the rhythms and beats that drive these dances, enhancing your ability to move with the music.
- Master Technique: Develop foundational steps, body mechanics, and posture to embody the authentic aesthetic of these styles.
- Express Legacy: Capture the emotion and storytelling that define Afro-Latin dance, bringing tradition to life in every movement.
Each week will focus on a specific theme, offering both beginners and experienced dancers an opportunity to immerse themselves in the essence of the Afro-Latin diaspora.
