Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a multi-day Mexican holiday, celebrated from November 1st to 2nd, where families honor and welcome the souls of deceased loved ones to join them for a reunion and celebration of life and memory.
The holiday blends ancient Indigenous traditions, particularly from the Aztecs, with Spanish Catholic customs, featuring colorful altars called ofrendas with marigolds, photographs and favorite foods, alongside sugar skulls, music and vibrant parades, emphasizing that death is a natural part of life.
