Defensive Handgun 1 Course

If you plan to carry a concealed handgun regularly, the Texas License to Carry class only scratches the surface of what you really need to know. For those who want to build a stronger foundation for safe and responsible carry, we recommend Defensive Handgun

This class will teach you the essential skills needed to safely draw from a holster, accurately deliver shots on target, clear malfunctions, incorporate movement, and reload under stress. It will also give you the foundation to compete in IDPA matches or other action pistol sports, an excellent way to practice your self-defense skills.

What to bring:

• Your handgun. Please let me know if you need a loaner handgun, and/or ammo.
• A belt holster made to fit your particular handgun, that protects the trigger guard and does not collapse when the gun is withdrawn. In front of or near hip position only. No trigger finger activated retention holsters (SERPA), please. Contact me for any questions.
• 150 rounds of ammunition.
• At least 2 magazines. More is better.
• If possible, 2 mag pouches for your belt.
• If you have your own shooting glasses and hearing protection, please bring them. If not, I have loaners available.

What to wear:

• A sturdy belt.
• A shirt with a snug collar
• A baseball cap or visor (to protect the gap at top of your eye protection)
• Closed-toe shoes (no sandals).
