Join Devi 2000 & Friends for this devotional practice of Sacred Chant! Our Beloved Kenny Dread is in town from West Cork, Ireland, and the reunion will be deep and moving.
Kirtan is a profound place to put your emotions, your self and whatever you have to give into the chant. We chant together in a safe space, creating a "one of a kind" evening together. You do not have to know anything special or be anyone other than who you are!
Devi 2000 features beautiful players including Katarina Tapasya Stanisavljevic, Jeff Jyoti Stitely, Kenny Dread, Mehtab Kirtan, Bob Sperber, and other special guests.
Debi Buzil is the founder of Devi 2000, Chicago’s premier kirtan group. Their five albums — “Devotional,” “Prepare Your Soul to Dance,” “Kum Kum” and 2023’s “Planet Love parts 1 & 2” — are rooted in Bhakti Yoga, the path of love. Blending Indian Sanskrit chant, English songs, world rhythms and grooves both electronic and acoustic, Debi has studied music in the motherlands of Brazil, India and the U.S. She is the music editor at Yoga Chicago. Devi 2000’s songs have been featured on TV shows such as “The L Word.” Debi has been blessed to have taught yoga to adults, kids. homeless teens and the ladies in her neighborhood’s women’s shelter. A longtime devotee of Amma, the “hugging saint”, her two young adult kids have proven to be her greatest teachers. Debi is a firm believer in love.
