Don't miss our upcoming event with Kevin Christoffersen of Film StartUp LLC who will be presenting a two-part feature film development workshop on all the different package elements needed to raise funding for your feature film, series, or documentary. Kevin will go through development funding, crowdfunding campaigns, grants, incentive programs, private equity, debt financing and tax credit loans amongst the ways and means to finance your project.
Participants will gain first-hand knowledge on the different methodologies used to achieve financing by evaluating a variety of case studies projects. We will also look at proof of concept short films, pitch decks, websites, and a wide array of supporting documentation.
Different organizations film funding programs presented will include Telefilmโs Production Program, Creative BCโs Telefilm Development Top-Up, Canada Council for the Arts Concept to Realization, Canada Media Fundโs Development Packaging Program, Bell Fundโs Slate Development and Hot Docs โ Documentaries Ted Rogers Fund.
After learning about the different kinds of film financing, the workshop then tackles the nuts and bolts of what goes into the Development packaging stage through each one of these key requirements:
โ Identifying a Development Executive to project manage the full packaging process
โ Maintaining Intellectual Property Rights & Chain of Title control as the Writer/Director/Producer.
โ Hiring a Casting Director and Talent Agent to attach lead actors and minor roles
โ Retaining Legal (Production) Counsel for setting up film as a registered business and create investment documentation
โ Bringing a Line Producer on board for creating shooting schedules and budgets
โ Working with a Creative Director on a Pitch Deck / Business Plan / Proof of Concept short film version
โ Deciding which analysis service to provide accurate projected financial data results
โ Location Scouting according to higher tax/cash rebate returns on production/post-production
โ Presenting the full package to different private equity investment opportunities

If they wish, participants are invited to present the current stage of their film projects during the second half of the last evening class so everyone can offer feedback for their next steps moving forward in their Development phase.
The workshopโs overall focus is to provide a clear cohesive strategy so participants can walk away with a knowledge-based solution applied towards funding their projects. Kevin will be open to questions anytime throughout the two-part workshop.

Kevin Christoffersen has been working in just about every form of media for nearly 3 decades - producing content internationally across 4 continents while living in 5 countries.
He is an Educator and Development Executive of Film StartUp LLC. In this role, Kevin guides filmmakers through the A-to-Z feature film development process with workshop courses, development labs, webinars, and consultations. A recent strategic partnership with Largo Films has introduced artificial intelligent analytics into the casting, financing, and distribution strategies within the dynamics of each of his projects.
Kevin was based in Switzerland for over 7 years as Executive Producer of World Television managing large-scale live broadcast event productions for Fortune 500 companies, United Nations agencies, and NGOs.
While operating on both sides of the Atlantic, he continues to form new industry partnerships along the way.
