About this Event

*The event meetup location will be finalized and updated about 1 month prior to the event.*

About The Greening of Detroit:

Since 1989, we have planted over 170,000 trees in the City of Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. We continue to plant along city and residential streets and within parks and playgrounds.

Detroit is an urban area - that makes trees a vital part of city living. Trees are key to our quality of life, public health and provide enumerable environmental benefits. They help reduce extreme heat, manage stormwater, and create and clean the air we breathe. Now more than ever, we need to be protecting and expanding our urban forests!

--

Come join us for a fun-filled day of planting trees and helping to expand Detroit's canopy cover! All ages are welcome, and we ask that volunteers under 18 years old are accompanied by an adult.

For this event, you can prepare with the following:

  • Wear close-toed work shoes / boots.
  • Bring work / gardening gloves (we will have gloves available on-site if needed!).
  • Dress for the weather and to get messy (we plant rain or shine, please wear layers!).
  • Training and tools (shovels, etc.) will be provided on-site.
  • Bring a water bottle / snack (we will have a refillable water jug on-site!).
  • We will have a clean port-a-potty on-site for volunteers to use.

GROUP VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION:

If you are your group’s PRIMARY CONTACT for this event, please follow these steps to register your group:

  1. On the page of your chosen planting date, click “Reserve a Spot.”
  2. Register for only 1 ticket. This step ensures your group is locked in for the event!
  3. Provide the full name of your group/company/organization (no abbreviations or acronyms, please).
  4. At the end of the registration form, there will be a space to provide an estimate of your group’s size. This helps us make any necessary event preparations! As the event approaches, we’ll check-in with you about your group size.
  5. Once you’ve registered as the group Primary Contact, each person in your group is required to register individually in Eventbrite. Individual group members are asked to also provide the full group/company name when registering. Please encourage everyone to be consistent with their entries to help us capture their information accurately for the event!
